1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster Lot Number224 RegistrationMPB 189K Chassis Number1S1250 Engine Number7S5710-SB Odometer reading29,997 miles Estimate£72,000 - £82,000 Print details Send this to a friend 2 more images Only 29,997 miles from new Genuine UK supplied righthand drive example Introduced in 3.8 litre form in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation when it appeared with instantly classic lines and 150mph top speed. While, inevitably, the car's stupendous straight-line performance and gorgeous looks grabbed the headlines, there was a lot more to the E-Type beneath the skin. The newcomer's design owed much to that of the racing D-Type and, indeed, the E-Type would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition ancestor. Just as in the D-Type, a monocoque tub formed the main body/chassis structure while a tubular space frame extended forwards to support the engine. As the E-Type evolved so did customers’ needs, Jaguar had developed the twelve-cylinder engine to power the new Series III with sufficient torque and refinement. Larger and softer in nature with weight redistributed 53/47, the Series III had lost the wilds of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile to which it was arguably better suited, a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car. Originally registered on 20th March 1972 this E-Type has been owned within the same family since 1979. Presenting in outstanding condition, the paintwork was refreshed in 2015 and the car has recently been serviced, at the same time the fuel tank and fuel lines were all cleaned out. The mileage of 29,997 is warranted and the condition of the car is certainly commensurate with such a low mileage. Finished in Primrose Yellow with black interior, this Jaguar Roadster sits proudly on wire wheels and is fitted with a manual gearbox. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document and a full year’s MoT test certificate. With prices for E-Types ever surpassing our expectations, combined with a low mileage and originality, cars like this are in short supply and certain to be very popular. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
