1969 MG Midget Lot Number 110 Registration RRH 428G Chassis Number G/AN4/66420 Engine Number 3528 Odometer reading 17,748 miles Estimate No Reserve Result Sold - £3,920 Print details Send this to a friend First introduced in Monte-Carlo by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) on 20th May 1958 and intended as a low-cost model, the Sprite was designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company and manufactured at Abingdon, it was not surprising that the success of the design would lead to an MG version, which was known as the Midget. The new Midget was to find a ready and enthusiastic market among the dedicated MG fans, as it was a sports car with all the traditional MG characteristics - small, inexpensive, fast, and safe with predictable handling; above all, it was a fun car. This Mk. III Midget has been in the current ownership since July 2010 and sadly, due to ill health, cannot be used or maintained in the condition it has been accustomed to. The vendor has made a difficult decision to let it go to a new owner where it may be cared for. The Midget presents well with good panel fit, whilst the red coachwork does show some signs of micro blistering in some areas but otherwise looks smart and is complimented by the optional wire wheels. The engine is the standard 1,275cc unit fed by the twin SU carburettors. In addition, a switchable electronic ignition system is fitted. The interior is in good condition, being black with red piping and a period alloy steering wheel is fitted in addition to a wind deflector behind the seats. The soft top, rear quarter windows have splits in them, otherwise, the top fits well. A hardtop is included but has never been fitted by the vendor and may need transporting separately from the sale. This is a UK registered righthand drive MG Midget with an MoT test certificate valid until 15th November, 2017. We feel that this MG, with a small amount of tender loving care, is a cracking little car waiting to be loved, cherished and, no doubt, once again be running along in the summer sunshine.
