In 1965, Harley-Davidson introduced an electric-start version of the big FL series, dubbing it the Electra-Glide and Harley had another winner. The Electra part included a well-received upgrade from 6 to 12 volt electrics made visually apparent by the large battery set on the right side panel of the bike. While very popular, there was a call for more ponies for the initially powered Panhead FLH and in ’66 the updated 74 inch was debuted. The design included mating new aluminum Shovelhead cylinder heads to the iron barrels increasing horsepower to 60 for the smoother-running, more powerful Shovelhead engine. The 1969 seen here carries the extra power and beef all spiced up by a custom makeover intended to add a vintage vibe. Besides the custom two-tone white and green paint job, custom tank length dash and fishtail pipes, the bike otherwise remains factory ’69 issue kick and electric start generator lower end motor, elegantly shrouded Wide Glide front end and 5-gallon tanks while hydraulic brakes front and rear lock down on classic spoked rims shod with white wall doughnuts. Set up for two-up riding style and comfort, this FLH looks appears as fresh as it did when it rolled off the assembly line an amazing 40 years ago. Without reserve
