Beschreibung:

Triumph motorcycles have always been associated with speed, and in 1965 five of the top twenty finishers of the Daytona 200 were on Triumphs. Triumph first introduced the TR6, also known as the ‘Trophybird’ in 1956 and in the succeeding years, up to three different versions of the TR6 model were available. In 1965 Triumph offered a sporting version of the TR6 Trophy, like the one shown here, primarily for highway use. Other versions for the Eastern United States, Western United States and Europe were also available. The TR6 line of Triumphs likely represents the most adaptable, multi-purpose motorcycles the world has seen, particularly for this era. A TR6 could be ridden as a touring bike, an enduro bike, a road racer or a ‘desert sled.’ The 1965 TR6 featured a single carburetor vertical twin engine capable of speeds in the 100 mph range, enjoyed excellent fuel mileage and shares the same frame as the more expensive Bonneville. The motorcycle featured here, while incorporating a non-standard Bonneville style twin carburetor head, nevertheless still possesses all the panache and desirability of a mid-Sixties Triumph twin. This particular example also features the now very rare and desirable fuel tank mounted ‘parcel rack.’ It is finished in ‘Burnished Gold’ and white typical of all 1965 TR6s. It should be noted that 1965 was the last year Triumph incorporated a formed sheet metal style tail light assembly. The grey seat top was a typical Triumph fitment of the mid-Sixties as was the steering damper. 1964 through 1966 Triumph TR6 frames utilized a steeper head angle for quicker steering than its successors and these frames are considered very desirable for vintage flat track racing. Universal trials type tires complete the package and emphasize the TR6s multi-purpose aspirations. Without reserve
