1964 3.8-LITRE JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES I ROADSTER Registration No. CMO 321B Chassis No. 850940 Engine No. RA 6794-9 Engine: six-cylinder in-line, seven bearing cast iron block and light alloy cylinder heads, twin overhead camshafts, overhead valves, 3781cc, bore and stroke 87mm x 106mm, 265bhp at 5500rpm, triple SU HD8 carburettors. Transmission: single dry plate clutch, four speed manual. Suspension: independant front wishbones, torsion bars, anti-roll bar, independant rear lower wishbone, upper driveshaft link, radius arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar. Brakes: Dunlop discs, vacuum servo. Wheels and tyres: chrome wire with Dunlop SP 185 VR 15 tyres. Right hand drive. From the time of its introduction in March 1961, the E-Type Jaguar has been regarded as the epitome of the modern sports touring car. A worthy successor to the XK Jaguar, the E-Type evoked the lines and style of the successful D-Type, slimmed and refined to create one of the world's most beautiful cars. With a top speed approaching 150 mph, race bred cornering and handling, exquisite looks, together with comfort and all at an unbelievable price of just (2,000, the E-Type was the envy of every motorist. The example on offer today is one we are particularly proud to be offering. It is the highly desirable Series I 3.8 Roadster (in fact the penultimate one made) and has been in the same ownership for the last 24 years. During this period the car has been meticulously cared for and has covered a mere 6,904 miles during this second ownership. The first owner covered less than 40,000 miles. In 1991 the car was subject to a comprehensive mechanical renovation which included the removal of the engine. There is a photographic record of this work and all the invoices are available for inspection. There is also a quantity of other invoices, the original service handbook and maintenance chart. The paintwork and chrome are both in excellent condition. The original red leather upholstery has been re-connollised and a few pieces of trim replaced. CMO 321B is certainly one of the most honest, original and well-cared for Jaguars we have seen, and with such a long ownership must make it worthy of close inspection by any potential E-Type owner.
