Beschreibung:

1961 PORSCHE 356B CABRIOLET Chassis No. 155425 Red with cream leather interior and soft top Engine: horizontally opposed air-cooled four cylinder, two Solex carburetors, 1,582cc., 75bhp at 5,000rpm; Gearbox: four-speed manual with Porsche synchromesh; Suspension: independent with torsion bars, trailing arm front, swing axle rear; Brakes: hydraulic drum all round. Left hand drive. When the Porsche 356A was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the Fall of 1955, the motoring press responded to it with a positive and strong reaction. An article on the sporty new car published in autocar raved to drive a Porsche is to experience a new form of motoring, so refreshingly different it is from the usual run of vehicles . The reaction was consistent across the board and the little cars gained themselves a loyal following of their own. Over the course of the next several years, Porsche altered the body design only minimally, and rather than implement drastic body changes, they offered a variety of powerplants instead. However, in November 1959 the 356B came along, provided with more robust bumpers, higher headlamps and a host of hidden refinements. Aerodynamics were improved, as were the brakes. The top speed was now quoted at 109 mph. Although the rear suspension was also improved, it was not a car that readily forgave the clumsy. The 356 ceased production in mid-1965 to give way to the entirely new six-cylinder 911. This Porsche 356B is offered in restored condition following major restoration work completed by the previous owner between 1982 and 1986. Work included a complete body disassembly, interior and exterior paint removal to bare metal, then the body was primed, painted and reassembled with new or restored parts. The convertible top was retrimmed with German cloth. At this time the engine, clutch and exhaust system were also removed, disassembled and rebuilt to original specifications. In 2001 a new battery was installed and extensive work was carried out on the brakes, new rear brake linings were installed, all the wheel cylinders were re-honed and new cups installed. At this time work was also carried out on the fuel system including the removal of the gas tank for cleaning and sealing with POR 15 sealant, the carburetors and the fuel pump were rebuilt and a new fuel cock was installed. The oil and filter were also changed. This Porsche has won several shows including the People's Choice Award at the Canadian West Regional Porsche Concours d'Elegance, Forest Grove and the World Exposition in Vancouver, BC. This car is an attractive, restored example of Porsche's ubiquitous 356, offering all weather motoring and entry to Porsche Club and other classic car events.
