Beschreibung:

The penultimate expression of Rover's much-loved P4 series - the 100 - arrived in 1960. By this time the design - first introduced as the 75 in 1949 - was beginning to look dated, its place at the top of the range having been taken by the 3-litre P5. Nevertheless, equipped with a short-stroke, 2,652cc version of the latter's seven-bearing six, the 100 proved almost as fast as the preceding 105S, with a top speed of more than 90mph. Other improvements included overdrive transmission as standard, key-operated starting, servo-assisted front disc brakes, and wider wheels. Like its predecessors, the 100 offered Rover's exceptionally well appointed interior and legendary build quality in a conservatively styled package. In excess of 16,000 found customers before production ceased in 1962. First registered in Hampshire on 15th September 1960, this example was donated by Col J C G Carmichael (see Lot 8) in 1981 and fully restored by BMIHT in the 1980s. We are advised that the car runs but has not been used recently. The vehicle is offered with buff logbook and Swansea V5.
