1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint *AMENDED ESTIMATE* Lot Number158 Registration172 YUJ Chassis NumberAR1493 22433 Odometer reading936 km Estimate£38,000 - £45,000 Print details Send this to a friend 10 more images Extensively restored Fitted with a two litre engine, disc brakes and five-speed gearbox Presented in exceptional condition We are delighted to present this fabulous example of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint, a motorcar that took the world by storm in 1954. Such was its impact upon the world of motoring, bursting onto the market at its introduction at the 1954 Turin Motor Show, it was christened, 'Italy's girlfriend' by the adoring public. The vehicle's outstanding performance, at the time, from its 1.3 litre twin cam engine, together with the beautiful lines penned by Nuccio Bertone in conjunction with Felice Mario Boano and Franco Scaglione, led this innovative little coupé to become the benchmark for coupés in the future. This Alfa Romeo certainly exudes quality and, no doubt, it would not surprise you that it has undergone a three year, professional, extensive restoration and has been kept within a private collection ever since. On record is a letter from the Alfa Romeo Owner’s Club, confirming that this Giulietta was manufactured on 24th February 1960 and sold on 30th May in Panama. The restoration was carried out by the well-respected restoration company, Redcastle Classics with invoices on file totalling over £29,000, the total costs, we are informed being in excess of £30,000. These works are recorded between October 2011 and August 2013 after the car was imported from the USA in circa 2010. The bodyshell was stripped to bare metal, repaired as required, including new floor pans and finished to a very high standard. During the rebuild, everything was checked, replaced or overhauled. We invite you to inspect the undersides that demonstrate the high level of workmanship that has gone into the rebuild, the suspension being detailed and its evident that it has been re-bushed and fitted with new shock absorbers. Further works included, a new wiring loom, a rebuilt braking system with later front discs fitted, a re-cored radiator, re-chromed brightwork (excluding bumpers), reupholstered interior including carpets, a new windscreen, later and a rebuilt 2.0 litre engine and five-speed gearbox were fitted. A decision was made, not to fit the bumpers, although they are un-restored and included in the sale. A set of TZ style alloy wheels completes the picture and, we hope you may agree that the lack of bumpers and the inclusion of the TZ wheels make for a more purposeful and aesthetically pleasing look. This Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint is UK registered and comes with a file documenting the restoration, a V5C registration document and the aforementioned dating letter. The Giulietta is an achingly attractive piece of automotive machinery and this example certainly confirms that. On the open road this Alfa really does go as well as it looks, with the engine being incredibly responsive and the handling being solid and assured, a real pleasure to drive. These fine motorcars are far more able than might be thought of from a car of its age and are well supported by several specialists, the Alfa Romeo Owner’s Club and especially, the Giulietta Register who organise European Tours. We wonder where a lucky new owner may take this fine example? * Interested parties should note that the estimate has been reduced to £38,000-£45,000 *
