1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Vendue sans carte grise Châssis n° B8FW276816 - Rare Continental Kit - Restauration ancienne de qualité - Combine les avantages du cabriolet et du coupé En 1957 Ford lance une décapotable à toit rigide pliant et escamotable électriquement, la Skyliner, dans l'esprit de la Peugeot Eclipse qui vit le jour en 1935 sur les 401 et 601 d'après un brevet de Georges Paulin exécuté chez Marcel Pourtout. Moins de 14 000 exemplaires à toit rétractable virent le jour en 1958 et uniquement en V8 proposé en trois cylindrées : 312, 332 et 352 Ci. Ils différent essentiellement du modèle 57 par l'adjonction d'une calandre à 4 phares, de feux et de baguettes latérales différentes. Ce " Hide-away hardtop " comporte non moins de trois moteurs, quatre vérins hydrauliques, quatre moteurs de verrouillage, dix solénoïdes et 185.9 m de circuit électrique. Pendant ses trois années de production, la Skyliner fut la seule de son genre. Il fallut attendre les années 90 pour revoir ce traitement de carrosserie réapparaître sur nombre de marques et de modèles grâce au carrossier français Heuliez. La voiture présentée a été restaurée complètement il y a quelques années. Elle est conforme à l'origine et l'essai effectué a été très satisfaisant. Le mécanisme de toit escamotable fonctionne très bien et son impressionnant " Continental Kit " est une option désirable. Equipée d'une boîte automatique " Cruise-O-Matic " et d'un puissant alternateur, elle se révèle très agréable à conduire. Elle sera livrée avec une fiche française d'identification de véhicule permettant l'obtention d'une carte grise. Sold without registration documents Chassis # B8FW276816 - With the rare Continental kit - Old restoration of good quality - Combines the benefits of a coupe and a cabriolet In 1957 Ford launched a folding hardtop convertible with an electrically retractable top, the Skyliner, in the spirit of the Peugeot Eclipse, from 1935, which were based on the 401 and the 601, as per the patents of Georges Paulin, with the cars bodied by famous coachbuilder Marcel Pourtout. Less than 14,000 of the retractable roof Skyliners were manufactured in 1958, but all were powered by V8s, offered in three displacements of 312, 332 and 352 cubic inches. The '58 differed from the '57 Skyliner by featuring four lamps on the grille and different side moldings. The "Hide-away hardtop" featured three motors, four hydraulic cylinders, four locking devices, ten solenoids and 185.9 meters of electrical circuitry. During the three years of the Skyliner's production, it was the only one of its kind. It was not till the 1990s that this style of retracting hardtops reappeared on a number of models and various brands, with the French coachbuilder Heuliez making most of them. The car we are offering was comprehensively restored a few years ago. It is consistent with the original specs and our drive was most satisfying. The retractable roof mechanism works very well and its impressive "Continental kit" is a desirable option. Equipped with an automatic "Cruise-O-Matic" and a powerful alternator, the car is most pleasant to drive. The car is sold without registration documents, but is coming with a vehicle record identification provided by French authorities.
