1932 Chicago Cubs Signed Baseball, Bat, Photograph and Stubs In the past 100 years, the Cubs have only made it to the World Series seven times, losing all, the last in 1945. Their last true heyday was from 1929-1945, when they were NL champions five times. Ironically, their first manager from 1926-29 was Joe McCarthy, who was fired in 1930 after a disappointing second place finish. McCarthy rebounded quickly, leading the Yankees to seven World Championships. In 1932, Rogers Hornsby began as manager, only to be succeeded by first baseman Charlie Grimm for the remainder of the year. Grimm's squad, led by a pitching staff that only allowed a team 3.44 ERA for the season, took the NL crown by four games over the Pirates. This signed baseball, bat and photo all feature autographs from the 1932 Cubs, a team best known for being swept by the Yankees and for Babe Ruth's "Called Shot" against Charlie Root in Game 3. The 11" x 14" photo is signed by the entire team, coaches and bat boy, 27 signatures in all. Hall of Famers include Kiki Cuyler, Burleigh Grimes, Gabby Hartnett and Billy Herman. The ball has 26 signatures including all the HoFers. The bat, a Spalding model stamped "Smith", is also stamped "Presented By A.J. Cermak, Mayor of Chicago, National League Champions 1932." It also has 26 signatures, including the Hall of Famers. Signatures on the ball average 9/10, 7/10 on the photograph and 5/10 on the bat. LOA from PSA/DNA.
