Heavily cast, the baluster body supported on a stepped spreading foot with diapered key-fret repeated on the waisted neck set with two open worked handles in the form of clambering chilong, their slender bifurcated tails elegantly trailing to the side and terminating at opposing sides of the center of the body. The natural patina of a rich black to chocolate-brown color. Provenance: Beaussant-Lefèvre & Associés, 28 April 2010 (according to label). A French private collector, acquired from the above. The base with an old collector’s label, inscribed: ‘Beaussant 28.4.10, cat. nr. 340. Further with old wear and some casting flaws, minor nicks, dents and light scratches.
