Signed 'Buk' at close. Half page typed letter to E.V. Griffith, editor of Hearse Press, and publisher of Bukowski's first book, Flower, Fist and Bestial Wail. In the letter Bukowski gives Griffith the okay to use his submitted poems for upcoming issues of Hearse magazine, asking for contributor copies when the issues appear. He goes on to describe a number of his current projects, as well the paperback edition of Notes of a Dirty Old Man being published by Essex House: "They pay #### royalties in front, which is sweet." At the end of the letter he reminisces a bit about the publication of his first book, and closes with: "so there we are, and the streets are the same and the people are the same, maybe worse, and the whores charge more and the jails are bigger. And I jab and cross and beat out this weekly column for OPEN CITY, and I don't get enough pussy and I get loveletters and hateletters, all of which I ######### throw away. amen."
