THE RUSSIAN BALLET (2). DIAGHILEW, SERGEI PAWLOWITSCH. Les Facheux. Théatre Serge De Diaghilew. . . I-II. Paris (Éditions des Quatre Chemins) 1924. Large 4to (c. 285x230 mm). With 46 (23 pochoir-coloured) plates Georges Braque (some foxing, tissue-papers foxed) and plates after photos by G. Detaille (some foxing, tissue-papers foxed). Limited edition of 385 copies on "vélin d'Arches", this is number 176 (total edition of 500 copies). Original decorated wrappers (designed by Braque), slight wear, one spot, one without plastic wrapper, the other one with tears, somewhat loose in binding. Untrimmed and partly unopened. 2 volumes. First edition. With one portrait of Georges Auric by Jean Cocteau 1 photoillustration of Braque by Man Ray (misspelled Man Rey!), a facsimile page from Auric's score. Text by Louis Laloy. Diaghilev's production of Les Facheux, a ballet based on a comedy by Molière, premiered in January 1924 in Monte Carlo under the supervision of Boris Kochno, with choreography by Bronislava Nijinska and an original score by Georges Auric; the sets and costumes were designed by Georges Braque The first 40 copies were printed on "Holland van Gelder" and 70 copies "hors commerce".
