Holland is considered by many the greatest translator of the Elizabethan era. Titus Livius, 59 B.C-17 A.D., born in Padua of noble birth though an advocate for a republic, gives us perhaps our best view of ancient Rome, his lengthy history spans the founding of Rome to the death of Drusus in 9 B.C. Quite possibly an inspiration for Shakespeare. ESTC 006185333; STC 16613. Condition: Light wear to binding, nicely stabilized; dampstaining bottom outer corners of leaves, rare worming or small internal tears, rare spotting; overall a clean copy, very good or better. Item#: 359998 Headline: First edition of Livy in English
