First edition of the Decades of Livius translated into Tuscan vernacular by the Florentine Iacopo Nardi and published in Venice in 1540 for the heirs of Luc'Antonio Giunti. The work contains what has survived, namely the first decade, the third, the fourth and the fifth of the monumental and famous work of Livio titled Ab Urbe Condita, originally composed, as is known, of 142 books dealing with history of Rome from the foundation to 9 BC The vulgarization of the Nardi is preceded by a dedication of the same author to Alfonso D'Avalos D'Aquino and a note addressed to the reader where the philological criteria followed in the translation work are explained.
