Small size portraits on copper were not rare in the 17th c. Attr. to the Flemish painter David Teniers the Younger (Antwerp 1610-Brussels 1690); one of his sons was a Recollet monk at Malines. According to a note, this portrait was authenticated by René Huyghe (1906-1997), a curator at the Louvre's department of paintings. Joined : a file of press cuttings relating to Teniers. Provenance : Paul Eeckhout with his stamp on verso of the frame (Lugt 824a).
