Roman Empire, Phoenicia and Syria, a varied collection of 220 Roman Colonial Portrait Bronze coins from many cities in these provinces, the vast majority being AE24-AE30, with a good representation of coins from Tyre featuring reverses depicting Astarte erecting trophy while being crowned by Nike, several AE27 of Tranquilina from Berytus, bronzes issued by Sidon for Julia Paula (AD 219) and Julia Maesa (ca. AD 222), as well as issues of various mints with architectural reverse types, including an attractive AE30 of Caracalla from Tripolis, and many other interesting reverses (Hercules, prize crowns, etc.), together with a smattering of issues from other parts of the Roman empire, average fine, a diversified and interesting group (220) (lot)
