Includes twelve daguerreotypes, six ambrotypes, and three tintypes, the majority of which are housed in full pressed paper or thermoplastic cases. Many feature pairs of mothers and children, including daguerreotypes of a well-dressed woman posing with her young daughter, who wears a puff-sleeved dress; a serious woman holding her daughter protectively on her lap; and an attractive young mother supporting her baby, who wears a gingham dress trimmed with ric-rac. Others show fathers with their children, such as a daguerreotype of a seemingly disinterested father and son and a daguerreotype of a squirmy young girl contained by her father, who fixes the camera with a piercing gaze. Still others show grandparents and grandchildren posed together, among which is a daguerreotype of a petite older woman standing beside her grandson, who folds his arms across his chest. Also with two images of family groups, including a daguerreotype of a husband and wife sitting next to each other with their young daughter, as well as an ambrotype of a mother seated with her son and daughter on either side, posed in an interior space, housed in a case of the U.S.S.
