Verso auf dem Unterlagekarton ein gedrucktes Etikett der Baukunst Galerie, Köln, und ein weiteres gedrucktes Etikett mit den Angaben zum Werk, sowie ein gedrucktes Etikett von Grisebach, Berlin, mit Auktionsvermerk.

Die frühe Arbeit des Künstlers zeigt in kühler Schlichtheit mit dynamischem Pinselduktus die Landschaft bei Gelting. Sie übersetzt gemäß dem deutschen Kunsthistoriker Thomas Gädeke besonders ausdrucksstark Fußmanns künstlerisches Alleinstellungsmerkmal. So habe er die Landschaft Schleswig-Holsteins «[...] als jemand der von außen kommt als besonders kostbar und großartig empfunden und sich so angeeignet, wie es eine Liebe ist, die man sich erwerben muss, die einem nicht geschenkt wurde, die nicht in die Wiege gelegt war.» Thomas Gädeke, in: Es ist Zeit, Der Maler Klaus Fußmann, Dokumentarfilm von Wilfried Hauke, 2018.

Watercolour and gouache on strong paper. Signed lower right, dated «8.9.(19)79» and inscribed «Gelting». Verso on the backing cardboard a printed label of Baukunst Galerie, Cologne, and another printed label with the work's data as well as a printed label of Grisebach, Berlin, with auction notes.

The artist's early work shows the landscape near Gelting in calm simplicity with dynamic brushstrokes. According to the German Art historian Thomas Gädeke, the work translates Fußmann's unique artistic characteristic particularly expressively. Thus, as someone who comes from the outside, he felt the landscape of Schleswig-Holstein «[...] to be particularly precious and magnificent and appropriated it in a way that is a love that one has to acquire, that was not given to one, that was not laid in one's cradle.» Thomas Gädeke, in: Es ist Zeit, Der Maler Klaus Fußmann, documentary film by Wilfried Hauke, 2018.

Very good overall impression. Mounted on backing cardboard. Sheet slightly undulated due to technique.
