Contemporary vellum, covers with a gilt pentaglyph and metope roll border on a blue wash background within a gilt dog-tooth roll, covers painted under the vellum in grisaille, the upper cover showing a woman seated beneath a tree with a dog, a departing carriage in the background (oval: 103x73 mm), the lower cover showing a vignette of three dancing girls and a piper; smooth spine gilt-lettered on a blue wash background and divided into 6 compartments by blue wash and gilt bands, the remaining 5 compartments each with a repeated gilt-tooled ornamental panel with a vase in the center, edges gilt concealing a CONTEMPORARY FORE-EDGE PAINTING OF A RURAL SCENE WITH PLOUGHING (some slight loss of blue to spine).
