One volume extended to 3, 8° (197 x 125mm, inlaid to larger leaves 264 x 185mm). Volume I title printed in red and black, volumes II and II with manuscript calligraphic titles in red and black. 37 (of 42) half-tone plates. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with an engraved portrait frontispiece by W.C. Edwards after Thomas Phillips 11 sequences of facsimile prints, and 57 engraved 18th- and 19th-century prints, the majority portraits, some titled in manuscript or proofs, one hand-coloured. (Scattered light browning, mainly on text leaves, half-title bound before B1.) Contemporary crushed half maroon morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, the spines gilt in 6 compartments divided by raised bands, titled in 2 compartments and dated at the foot, the other panels decorated with gilt frames, top edges gilt (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance F.E. Dinshaw (bookplates and pressmark labels). A REMARKABLE SET, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH 266 ADDITIONAL IMAGES, INCLUDING 11 LARGE SEQUENCES. The sequences of plates are: Songs of Innocence and Experience (54 facsimile plates printed in brown, divided into the 2 parts); The Book of Thel (8 facsimile plates, printed in brown); The Marriage of Heaven and Hell (27 hand-coloured facsimile plates, printed in brown); Visions of the Daughters of Albion (11 facsimile plates, printed in brown); America (18 facsimile plates, printed in green); Europe a Prophecy (17 facsimile plates, printed in green); The First Book of Urizen (27 facsimile plates, printed in brown); The Grave (12 etched facsimile plates on india, mounted); Illustrations of the Book of Job (15 etched facsimile plates on india, mounted); The Song of Los (7 facsimile plates, printed in brown); [ Paradise Lost ] (12 colour-printed facsimile plates with facing text leaves). The subjects of the portraits include S.T. Coleridge, William and Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, Thomas Holcroft, Joseph Johnson, Angelica Kauffmann John Milton Thomas Paine, Joshua Reynolds Emmanuel Swedenborg, and William Wordsworth Bentley Blake Books 1680C.
