Beschreibung:

First introduced in 1966 and based on shortened 124 saloon floorpan and running gear, the attractive Pininfarina-styled Spider would prove an outstanding success for FIAT, over 200,000 being sold before production ended in 1982. Launched with a 1,438cc, four-cylinder, twin-cam engine, the Spider gained 1.6-litre, 1.8-litre and, finally, 2-litre power units as the 1970s progressed. Four-wheel disc brakes were part of the package from the outset and all but a few home-market cars came with five-speed gearboxes. Presented in metallic brown with a tan interior, top and boot, this car remained in inventory since new and despite being 'on sale' at Nemet Motors of Jamaica, NY it was never sold. Nemet had a FIAT franchise back in 1980 and is still in business with numerous import brands to this day. The FIAT recently came out of inventory at the point of having covered just 177 miles from new. Although low mileage it had by definition had modest use and sensibly they performed a mechanical service to refresh its mechanics. This work included the fitting of a new timing belt, battery and tires and attention to the inevitable minor paint scratches accrued over 30 years of exhibition/storage. Unusually, the car has the rare factory option of automatic transmission, a unit that was made by GM ensuring that parts and servicing facilities are readily available today. Offered with this remarkable unused FIAT is the original top boot, still in its packaging, jack, service notes/records, mileage statements and manuals. Ultra low mileage cars are perennially popular cars, for the true collector they represent the original article as supplied new, rather than later interpretations of a car's original specification. As such, this is a genuinely covetable example of the last of an iconic line of FIAT sportscars.
