THE PORSCHE 911
Arguably the most successful sports car of all time, with a production run that started about the same time as the Beatles went on Ed Sullivan and continues to this day. Race versions have taken the checkers and tasted champagne everywhere from Daytona to the Dakar Rally. Along the way, the Porsche 911 defined a company and became much more than an automobile. "Almost immediately established itself as an icon of '60s cool," says Edmunds.com. "Then it segued gracefully into being an icon of '70s performance, then an icon of sophistication and affluence in the '80s, then an icon of athleticism and power in the '90s and is today simply an icon of all that's right with Germany and automobiles."
THE MOTORCAR OFFERED
Completed at the Zuffenhausen-based Porsche factory during November of 1973 - as a 1974 model-year 2.7-Liter 911 Coupe - this very example was finished just as it appears today, and delivered brand new to Jack Daniels Porsche of Fairlawn, New Jersey. Here the first owner took delivery of the exclusive and powerful 911 and would go on to keep the car in largely original condition, for nearly 48 years. A copy of the original invoice attests to the specification identical to how the car presents today, painted classic Silver Metallic, fitted with the 5-speed manual transmission, equipped with Fuchs alloy wheels, Blaupunkt radio, side mirror, tinted glass and 911S instruments. Other factory accessories included the C.I.S. Bosch fuel injection system, front spoiler, Velour carpeting and more.
Passed on from its single ownership in 2022, this 911 2.7 Coupe has since been treated to comprehensive mechanical refurbishments, where the engine was resealed, tuned and trimmed, and fuel and brake systems gone through. Invoices totaling over $14,000 documenting the work can be found in the history file. Today less than 43,000 miles are recorded on the odometer, and the car remains in lovingly preserved condition. Original silver paint can be found in compartments and jambs, and possibly on body panels too. The interior appears original, and the period Blaupunkt radio is fitted, matched with an under-dash mounted appropriate cassette player from the same era. Retaining its matching-numbers engine, here's a chance to own an affordable, drivable classic sports car from a legendary model-range.
