Beschreibung:

Y A Franco-Flemish ivory Corpus Christi, late 17th/early 18th century, characteristically portrayed with crown of thorns and draped perizonium, the head inclined slightly to dexter, mounted to a later ebonised cross, 29cm high, 18.5cm wide overall Property from the estate of the late Betty, Lady Grantchester Condition Report: Some darkening and yellowing to the ivory, as well as vertical splits across the torso, legs and in one instance the face. Three of the fingers on the left hand are broken, and one on the right hand is also missing a section. A tiny section of the crown of thorns also appears to be lacking. The arms of the figure were carved as separate sections, and the pins holding these in place no longer fully catch, so they come away from the torso. The cross is later and has one or two chips, and some wear to the ebonised finish. Condition Report Disclaimer
