Donald Hall published his first book of poetry at the age of 26; he was also a passionate patron and admirer of fine arts. He was the first literary editor of the Paris Review (1953-1961) and during his tenure collected the lithographs used for the covers created by icons of the art world including Robert Motherwell Andy Warhol and Willem de Kooning to name a few.
