TWO RARE FAMILLE ROSE ARMORIAL DISHES EARLY 20TH CENTURY Each dish is delicately potted and bearing the arms of Pope Pius XI to the centre. One is decorated around the cavetto with four roundels containing famring scenes, each representing one of the four seasons and reserved on a yellow ground densely enamelled with lotus scrolls. The exterior is decorated with the Eight Buddhist Emblems borne on meandering scrolls. The other dish is painted with two iron-red ferocious dragons flanking the coat of arms, the exterior is similarly decorated. The base of both dishes bears a twelve-character iron-red mark reading Zhongguo Jiangxi Jingdezhen Tianzhu Tang Jianzhi . 14½ in. (37 cm.) diam. (2)
