ONE TUREEN AND HANDLE WITH THE MARK OF PAUL STORR LONDON, 1804 THE OTHER TUREEN AND HANDLE WITH MARK OF PETER AND WILLIAM BATEMAN, LONDON, 1805
TWO GEORGE III SILVER SOUP TUREENS AND COVERS ONE TUREEN AND HANDLE WITH THE MARK OF PAUL STORR LONDON, 1804 THE OTHER TUREEN AND HANDLE WITH MARK OF PETER AND WILLIAM BATEMAN, LONDON, 1805 Each oblong and on spreading foot, with reeded band and gadrooned rim, with two lion's mask and ribbon-tied reeded handles, the cover with a detachable loop handle, the covers each engraved with a crest, the bodies each engraved with a coat-of-arms, each further later applied with a crowned anchor, each fully marked 15¾ in. (40 cm.) wide 211 oz. (6,000 gr.) The arms are those of Miles impaling Whetham, for Philip John Miles (d.1845) and his first wife Maria (d.1811), daughter of The Very Rev. Arthur Whetham, dean of Lismore, whom he married in 1795. Philip Miles was MP for Bristol. His eldest son, who was also an MP, was created a baronet in 1859. The anchor is the symbol of Aimone, 4th Duke of Aosta (1900-1948), later King Tomislav II of Croatia. (2)
