It was from the beginning intended to be made only in white and the first example was produced in June 1931 and the first sale was in 1932. This group, together with five other models by Scheurich, was awarded the Grand Prix at the Paris World Exposition of 1937. Nineteen examples had been sold by 1948 (Rafael 1995a, no. 46). Only a single other example in the Schauhalle of the Meissen manufactory is recorded (Rafael 1995a, ill. 46.3). The subject of this group is not immediately obvious, though Dr. Hans Sonntag has suggested that it may depict Genoveva, after Robert Schumann's opera, which is based on the medieval legend of Genevieve of Brabant (Rafael 1995a, p. 101).
