Lee Elias cover. Stories and art by Bob Powell, Howard Nostrand, Al Eadeh, Manny Stallman, and John Giunta. Northford collection. The Northford collection, found in a chest of drawers sold to an antique dealer in the early '70s, contained the most complete run of pre-Code horror comics of all pedigreed collections. Northford mags can be identified by a small "circle-X" stamp on back covers. Additional provenance: Metropolis Comics label to back of CGC holder. A flower-loving orphan cries when his adoptive mom and dad cut roses ("Mommy! Daddy! Don't cut them off! It - it's like pulling the fingers and toes off a person!"). They won't stop doing it, so he chops their hands and feet off, stuffs them into vases. "Children are first shocked and then desensitized by all this brutality" -Dr. Wertham. CGC census: Five 9.2 copies (one graded higher). Top 6 copy. Comparable CGC sales: No recent sales in this grade. An 8.5 copy sold for $600 in February, 2019.
