The House of the Wolfings, Jan. 1901; The Roots of the Mountains, April 1901; Grettit the Strong, Aug. 1901; Three Northern Love Stories, Nov. 1901; The Odyssey of Homer, Dec. 1901; The Aeneads of Virgil, Feb. 1902; Hopes and Fears for Art, and Signs of Change, May 1902; Architecture, Industry and Wealth, June 1902, 8 vol. in all, [limited to 315 copies], printed in red and black in Golden type, the third volume with map, original linen-backed boards, some covers slightly stained, uncut, unopened, folio, Chiswick Press, 1901-1902. *** The set of volumes provides texts for most of William Morris’s writings not printed at the Kelmscott Press. In a letter written by Sidney Cockerell to Laurence Hodson in 1898 he explained that the trustees of the Kelmscott Press had arranged for the type to be sent to the Chiswick Press to be used only under control [see lot 256]. The last volume in the set is the first edition of this collection of papers.
