Zweite überarbeitete Ausgabe. – Thimm S. 172. – Die erste Ausgabe erschien 1780; das “advertisement to the second edition” erwähnt, der Autor habe “some labour and attention in revising, correcting, and improving this edition” gesteckt “and added a copious glossary of the technical terms.” – John McArthur (1755-1840) trat 1778 in den Dienst der Britischen Marine, wo er u.a. als Sekretär von Admiral Samuel Hood (1st Viscount Hood) Karriere machte. – Innendeckel mit kleinem handschriftlichen Eintrag und Klebespuren, Titel mit überklebtem Stempel und restauriertem etwa 6 cm langem Einriss, Tafeln teils mit schwachem Abklatsch, im Rand teils leicht gebräunt, wenige Blatt schwach stockfleckig.
Second revised edition. – With engr. frontispiece and title, 19 (16 fold.) engr. plates. Contemp. half calf, gilt (somewhat soiled and rubbed). – Inner cover with traces of glue and handwritten note, title with pasted over stamp and restored tear, plates with some off-setting, minor browning resp. foxing.
