Printed silhouette of Theodore Roosevelt signed ("Theodore Roosevelt"), as former President, created by Beatrix Sherman (1891-1975), Winter 1917. 1 page, oblong (11 7/8 x 6 in.), on card . Signed by Roosevelt in pencil beneath silhouette. Also signed by Beatrix Sherman below Roosevelt's signature, with note on verso. AN "ORIGINAL AUTOGRAPH" on this striking silhouette of the former President, showing him in three-quarter profile, his left hand raised to emphasize a point, and his right hand in his pocket. In her note on the verso, Sherman writes: "Silhouette of Theo. Roosevelt cut at the Hero Land Bazaar winter of 1917. Original autograph. Beatrix Sherman." The first in a long series of Presidential silhouettes executed by Sherman, she drew all the Chief Executives from T.R. to L.B.J.
