Harrison for Whitmore and Fenn, 1820. 3 volumes, 8° (247 x 160mm.). Hand-coloured portrait frontispiece, 2 aquatint frontispieces, one tinted by hand, 57 hand-coloured aquatint plates by T. Sutherland, F. C. Lewis, D. Havell and others after T. Whitcombe, J. Beresford, W. A. Armstrong, J. Gore, W. Hill and others. (Light worming affecting 3 plates, some marginal browning of plates, paper repair to titles where ownership inscription has been cut away.) Modern blue morocco gilt, g.e., by Lewis & Harris of Bath. Provenance : George Marsh (presentation inscription in volume I). FIRST EDITION. The plates, based on drawings made by officers who participated in the actions, were issued either coloured or uncoloured: 'genuine coloured copies are rare' (Tooley 392); Abbey Life 342; Sabin 67602.
