Contemporary burgundy half calf binding, cover with gilt title on leather label together with the owner's monogram GTB (count Gustaf Trolle-Bonde), partly worn, gilt spine, small damage to lower part of spine, blue endpapers. The bookplate of Gustaf Trolle-Bonde, Säfstaholm, Sweden (Säfstaholms Bibliothek) on the inside of the cover. Not in Colas or Lipperheide. The very rare atlas volume to the first and only edition and the most complete monograph ever published in France on the Philippines. Lacking the 2 text volumes. The plans shows the fortress of Samboanga, from the mouth of St. Bernadino, the ports of Sorsogon and Palapa, Bongo Bay and Manila, and a full-page map of Manila. Sheet of music titled: Comintang de la Conquista (text in Filipino and French). Jean Mallat (1806-1863), studied medicine in Paris and in 1838 he was appointed chief medical officer of the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Manila. In 1844, he was named the Agent for Colonial France for the Indo-China seas. In recognition of his participation during the French possession of Basilan Island, the Emperor granted him the addition of this island's name to his family name. Provenance: Gustaf Trolle-Bonde (1773-1855), Swedish noble-man living at the castle of Säfstaholm, Sweden.
