λ GEOFFREY DASHWOOD (BRITISH, 1947-) A LIMITED EDITION BRONZE MODEL OF A RABBIT CONTEMPORARY Bronze with greenish patina, signed to cast and numbered 11/12 22.5cm high, 24cm long overall Provenance: The Imogen Paine collection of rabbits Geoffrey Dashwood is perhaps best known for his sculptural work in bronze depicting birds. Hampshire born, he worked with the Forestry Commission in the New Forest before making a career for himself as an artist. Initially he worked in the manner of Moigniez and the 19th century animaliers before embracing purer, leaner lines adn shapes,. Abandoning the superfluities of details his work takes on a more tactile abstract approach- enlivened and enriched by a keen eye for patina and colour. His work outside the avian world is less common, but no less rewarding and displays his innate understanding not just of form but of animal behaviour. Condition Report: Good and with very mild wear as per handling and age. Base with mild wear from table contact, baized Please see additional images for visual references to condition which form part of this condition report. All lots are available for inspection and Condition Reports are available on request. However, all lots are of an age and type which means that they may not be in perfect condition and should be viewed by prospective bidders; please refer to Condition 6 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers. We must advise you that we are not professional restorers or conservators and we do not provide any guarantee or warranty as to a lot's condition.
