Die Uhr gehört zu den frühesten bekannten Kutschenuhren des 17.Jahrhunderts und ist eine museale Rarität. Die Uhr wurde offensichtlich von keinem geringeren als dem berühmten Pierre Gaudron, Hofuhrmacher des Duc d'Orleans und des Königs von Frankreich oder von seinem Vater Antoine Gaudron aus Blois stammend, überholt bzw. modernisiert, was man daraus schließen kann, dass die Uhr eine frühe Spirale hat und die Spindelbrücke mit Gaudron signiert wurde! Die Uhr ist seit dem Jahr 2000 bekannt, als sie erstmals in Genf versteigert wurde als Bestandteil einer bedeutenden Spindeluhrensammlung, damaliger Schätzpreis CHF 55.000-65.000. Die Uhr ist ausführlich beschrieben im Katalog der Auktion als Los 378. Der Vater heiratete 1630 und starb 1662, er ist bekannt als Hersteller feiner Uhren und wohl auch der vorliegenden Kutschenuhr. Pierre Gaudron gilt als ein herausragender Uhrmacher, er war der Sohn von Antoine Gaudron (1) und Bruder von Antoine Gaudron (2) . Er war zwischen 1690 und 1730 in Paris tätig und fertigte auch Uhren im Auftrag der Regierung. Gaudron war Hofuhrmacher des Duc d'Orleans und des Königs von Frankreich.
