With two temple-framed title-borders printed in red. (Some minor browning and staining.) Contemporary German, full red morocco, gilt half-moon crescent stamped on both covers, ornamental floral border pattern, silver-coated endpapers and fly-leaves, gilt edges. Provenance: Bibliotheque Auguste Lagarde, Carcassonne (oval ink stamp on title); Gaston Maury (bookplate). This is one of the key Arabic printed editions of the Koran published in the West, combining the edition of Gustav Flügel (1802-1870) of 1834 with the updated editing of Gustav Redslob (1804-1882), first issued in this printing of 1837.
