KENNEDY, JOHN FITZGERALD, President . Typed letter signed ("John Kennedy") as President, WITH THREE-LINE AUTOGRAPH POSTSCRIPT, to Judy Nyman. Washington, D.C., 22 March 1963. 1 page, 8vo, on White House Stationery, with envelope . The President replies to a letter on the experiences of a favorite uncle during World War II, who was apparently posted in the same part of the Solomon Islands in which Kennedy had served on PT-109: "I did see your letter and I do appreciate your friendliness in writing and telling me a little about yourself...the mention of your favorite uncle and the days of World War II brought back many memoires -- together with the fervent hope that in your lifetime there will be no need for such wartime activities." In an autograph postscript, Kennedy has added: "From your description I would guess that your uncle was a marine at Choisuel."
