Historical Record of the Life Guards ... the Second Edition. London: Longman, Orme, and Co., 1840. 8° (209 x 133mm). 6 hand-coloured lithographed plates [ bound with :] Edmund PACKE. An Historical Record of the Royal Regiment of Horse Guards, or Oxford Blues. London: William Clowes, 1834. 8°. Engraved portrait frontispiece, hand-coloured lithographed vignette on title and 7 hand-coloured lithographed plates. 2 works in one volume, 19th-century straight-grained crimson morocco with Royal coat-of-arms stamped in gilt on covers, spine gilt in compartments (extremities rubbed, short split to head of upper joints). Provenance : "To Blandford with all good wishes on his Wedding Day, Winterton" (later inscription on front free endpaper). The volume bears a general engraved title to Historical Records of the British Army dated 1837, although the spine is stamped "Vol. I, 1839." Both works, however, are complete in themselves.
