Beschreibung:

Model of the Gemini-Titan rocket, made by Topping, Inc. of Akron, OH, for the Martin Company. Made from white injection-molded plastic, 20 inches tall. The model's two first-stage engines are mounted directly into an 8 by 6 inch base which has official Gemini Program and NASA emblems. WITH GORDON COOPER'S signed provenance note, reading in part: "I have always been impressed with the precision models made by or for NASA and the industry contractors. The Gemini Titan launch vehicle model is one of my favorites, partly because Gemini 5 was my last space mission back in August 1965. Liftoff was very smooth on the Titan and not as bumpy as the ride during my 1963 Mercury Atlas flight. The Titan was more like a sturdy sedan verses a sports car Atlas. I was with Charles 'Pete' Conrad during the Gemini Titan 5 flight and we made an eight day earth orbit flight—the longest space mission up to that date."
