Beschreibung:

Futura 2000 (Lenny McGurr) American, b. 1955 Chicago 5 No. 1, 2001 Signed Futura and inscribed as titled on the reverse Acrylic on canvas 48 1/4 x 48 inches Unframed As a teen in the 1970s Lenny McGurr (better known as Futura 2000), was frantically coating the subways in his signature graffiti style. By the early 80s he was taken under the wings of Keith Haring and Jean-Michel-Basquiat. As Futura continued forward, his style informed graffiti culture exponentially, even crossing over into design and fashion for brands like Nike, Levi's and Supreme. One of the first Street Artists to begin referencing Abstract art, Futura's classic "Pointman" character still retains its original inspiration from Japanese Manga (ie: animation and comics like Robotech and Gatchaman), even as his style of painting has evolved dramatically. C
1/2 x 1 inch area of white pigment at upper center, unclear as to it being either wear or artist's intention. One inch long scrape along upper right edge. Minor spot of white pigment at right center. Light scrape at bottom right. Several minor spots of rubbing along edges.
