First World War, 1914 - 1818, 507 Irish Recruiting Poster: Can You any Longer resist the Call? Issued by the Department of Recruiting for Ireland. Approx. 76cms x 51cms (30'' x 20''), & printed in multi-colour by M'Caw, Stevenson & Orr, Ltd., Dublin & Belfast. In excellent condition. Rare. * Depicts an Irish farmer with a plough, doffing his cap to an image of St. Patrick & a ruined Continental Cathedral. This was an attempt to lure Irish Roman Catholics to enlist and help the plight of Catholics in Belgium where they were ill-treated by German forces.
