English Triple Fusee Musical and Animated Bracket Clock, 7.5 in. silvered dial with incised Roman hour numerals and 5 minute numbers, engraved seascape scene in the center and pierced gilt brass hands, 1.25 in. silvered sub dials in the lower corners for Music-Silent and 4 tune selector, relief bronze filigree corner spandrels; the dial arch has an animated scene with a seated violinist playing, a dancing man in the center and sailing boats in the harbor in the front. Quality brass triple fusee spring driven movement with filigree engraved rear plate signed "Higgs y Diego Evans, London", has a verge and crown wheel escapement, hour strike on a single bell, animates and plays a progressive quarter hour tune on a nest of 10 bells which also plays a selection of 4 different tunes on the hour. Bronze mounted mahogany case has urn and flame finials, pierced decorated frieze panels, maiden bust corner mounts, hinged side handles over pierced decorated panels, garland mounts on the bottom and bronze base with filigree feet. Excellent condition, running and striking, has door key, case is numbered "5682" and signed with a paper label for "Diego Evans". Robert and Peter Higgs and James "Diego" Evans were in partnership at Exchange Alley, London circa 1775-1825, they are noted for specializing in production for the export market.. 29.5 in. high x 16 in. wide x 11.25 in. deep. Weight: 43.75 lbs.
