bound folio volume in half calf binding with pasted-in title page with chromolithographed letterhead of Ehrgott, Forbriger & Co. Cincinnati, Ohio and copyright of 1862-1863. Includes hand-colored Currier and Ives lithograph of The Star Spangled Banner and G. Washington, followed by 50 lithographs by Ehrgott, Forbriger & Co. 5 are politicians, including A. Lincoln, followed by 44 of Union Generals and Admirals, including a wonderful U.S. Grant with huge beard. A list of the surnames of each politician and military figure follow: Lincoln; Chase; Stanton; Tod; Morton; Johnson; W. Scott; H. Halleck; J. Hooker; A. Burnside; N. Banks; O. Mitchell; L. Rosseau; S. Curtis; R. McCook; A. Willich; C. Schurz; W. Franklin; L. Wallace; A. McCook; N. Lyon; S. Heintzelman; J.C. Davis; J. Clernand; J. Sullivan; M. Millikin; E. Ellsworth; F. Sigel; U.S. Grant; L. Goldsborough; D. Hunter; J. Worden; W. Porter; E. Sumner; B. Butler; S. Dupont; Comm. Foote; and Comm Farragut. This Cincinnati Lithographic firm produced military maps for the Union army during the war, theatrical illustrations and cover work for sheet music among other types of art work. A handful of these bound volumes of their Civil War lithographs are known. Condition:Heavy scattered foxing and waterstaining, G+.
