The English-Chinese vocabulary is followed by a section of terms and phrases contributed by residents, consular officials, missionaries and other residents in China, notable among which are two sections useful for photographers working in China, comprising an English-Chinese vocabulary of 'Photographical Chemicals and Apparatus' by John Thomson (volume 2, pp.319-320) and 'Photographic Terms' by Dr John Dudgeon (volume 2, pp.518-522), who also supplied lists of 'Medical divinities' and 'Shop signs and Street names at Peking'. Among the other contributors is E.C. Bowra of the Chinese Maritime Custom Service who supplied an index of plants with their names in Chinese and Latin.
