Map of the East Indies, depicting modern Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and parts of Southeast Asia and New Guinea region, and Arnhem Land in northern Australia. Vincenzo Maria Coronelli was a Venetian cosmographer and cartographer, best known for his globes and atlases in particular the Atlante Veneto published (1690-1701), in which this map was published. The atlas was a "marvellous source of information on contemporary Italian science and geography" ( The World Encompassed 195). [ With: ] SANSON, Nicholas (1600-1667).
