LIMITED EDITION , one of 40 copies for ‘presents’ printed on ‘fine paper’ for a small group of Payne and Foss clients, of the Christie and Manson auction catalogue and of the third part including the early printed books purchased by Payne and Foss and the Manuscripts and Autographs, purchased by the nation for the British Museum. Samuel Butler formed ‘a collection of some 300 fine manuscripts and succeeded in building up a nearly perfect set of Aldines, largely based on the famous Renouard collection...
