BOSWELL, JAMES. Autograph letter signed to Andrew Gibb, overseer of his estate at Auchinleck Castle, London, 5 December 1792. One page, folio, seal tear in blank margin, address panel in Boswell's hand on verso a bit soiled, with his wax seal impression intact, postmarked, red watered-silk folding case (a little worn) , with typed transcript. "This day the four boxes have come to hand. But they are not yet opened. I return the Disposition to Elizabeth Marshall, with my approbation at the foot of it, so that the rent may be taken separately...Let my son at Edinburgh have what money he desires; and when you can spare twenty pounds pay it to Mr. John Boswell at Ayr to account . I hope fires are put on in the house as often as necessary. But indeed I have great confidence in the care of the maids." (Milne)
