(24.5cm.) high (excluding base) Rodin's collaboration with Sèvres began circa 1879, when his friend, the sculptor Albert-Ernest-Carrier-Belleuse, was appointed art director at the pottery. Between 1887-1888 Rodin created a series of drawings, including the design for the present work, which were then modelled in porcelain by Jules Desbois These designs continued to be manufactured until 1939.
