A Victorian gilt-brass mounted ebonised striking and quarter chiming eight day table clock Late 19th Century The case with applied gilt-brass foliate mount, gilt-brass grotesque mask and foliate side frets and raised on gilt-brass foliate feet, the front door with gilt-brass acanthus leaf frame with silvered mask to 5 in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the arch with silvered subsidiary rings for chime/silent and quarter chime selection (Cambridge chimes/chime on eight bells), the movement with triple chain fusees, anchor escapement, striking the quarters on a nest of nine bells and striking the hours on a gong, the back plate with scrolling foliage engraving and engraved border; pendulum, case key 18 in. (46 cm.) high
